The Liquid Facelift…
Sculptra® is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra® provides an increase in skin thickness, helping to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial lipoatrophy.
Sculptra® is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material. Sculptra® is not made from human or animal sources and does not require a skin test. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible (does not harm the body), biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) material that has been widely used for many years in surgical products. The product is similar to the chemical structure of lactic acid that can be found in muscle and other tissue. The effects are long-lasting; with clinical studies showing lasting effects for up to 2 years after the first treatment session.
The effects of Sculptra® are enduring. The results from Sculptra® are not immediate; Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness by creating a microscopic inflammatory response in the deep layers of the skin, thus stimulating your skin to increase collagen production.
This is an in-office procedure that we inject to the face just below your skin level and deep to the muscles of your face. A single initial treatment may consist of one to two vials, at which time you will return to our office for re-evaluation in approximately 6 weeks. At this time we will discuss if additional injections are needed or wanted. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.
People with mild lipoatrophy will require fewer treatments than those with severe lipoatrophy.
