360 Lift (360 Tummy Tuck)

Metro Detroit 360 Lift (360 Tummy Tuck)

Although a Traditional Tummy Tuck (aka Abdominoplasty) has the ability to transform the abdomen, it does very little to change the look of an individual’s backside. However, there is a unique procedure that can address both the front and the back during the same surgical session. This procedure is the 360 Tummy Tuck (aka 360 Body Lift, Lower Body Lift and Circumferential Tummy Tuck). Men and women who would like their backside to look as good as their front after a Tummy Tuck should consider having a Circumferential Tummy Tuck with the seasoned plastic surgeons from Chau Plastic Surgery, Near Detroit. During this procedure, the plastic surgeons remove excess skin from the buttocks, hips and abdomen. Once complete, patients enjoy a slimmer, more toned appearance throughout their entire torso. With this revolutionary procedure, the board-certified plastic surgeons at Chau Plastic Surgery are helping patients look amazing from all their angles.

A 360 Lift (360 Tummy Tuck) Near Detroit; What is it?

During a Circumferential Tummy Tuck the surgeon uses several sculpting techniques and contouring methods while performing the patient’s procedure. The methods and techniques used during a Circumferential Tummy Tuck take this procedure one step beyond Traditional Tummy Tuck and Liposuction procedures (i.e., Lipoabdominoplasty).

While performing the Liposuction procedure, a surgeon uses a thin tube (i.e., cannula) with a special surgical vacuum to remove residual fat from various areas of the body.

Liposuction is not a weight loss solution, but, instead, a procedure designed to enhance the patient’s body contours and smooth out the areas where excess fat that is resistant to diet and exercise has accumulated.

During a 360 Body Lift near Detroit, the excess skin and fat around the patient’s back, abdomen and waistline is removed. Just as with a Traditional Tummy Tuck, the abdominal muscles are tightened, which tones and reshapes the patient’s midsection, flanks and low back.

A Circumferential Tummy Tuck Vs. a Traditional Tummy Tuck

Whereas, during a Traditional Tummy Tuck the plastic surgeons from Chau Plastic Surgery remove excess fat and skin from beneath the patient’s navel and then re-tighten the abdominal muscle, a Circumferential Tummy Tuck includes these steps, and more.

While performing a 360 Tummy Tuck near Detroit, the surgeon removes excess fat from the areas around the entire trunk by way of Liposuction. In addition, the surgeon can address fat accumulation in the bra area, on the back and the flanks.

The Circumferential Tummy Tuck is extremely effective, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the shrink- wrap procedure.

Body-Contouring Clothing Can Be a Thing of the Past

Most patients who opt for a Circumferential Tummy Tuck no longer need to wear body contouring clothing (e.g., Spanx) because they look great on their own.

The Detroit 360 Tummy Tuck is Designed to Address a Common Problem

This procedure was brought to fruition to address a problem that plastic surgeons frequently saw in the plastic surgery industry: Women were requesting body enhancing procedures once they had finished their family with a goal of restoring their pre-baby body. The Traditional Tummy Tuck was only able to address 50 percent of the problem at hand. So, to assist women in really attaining their pre-baby body back, the entire mid-section needed to be addressed, front and back. With the ability to address back fat, bra rolls, muffin tops and more, the 360 Body Lift does just that.

Is it Safe to Combine Liposuction with a Tummy Tuck?

Yes. While years ago, performing these two procedures together was concerning, since that time, advancements have been made to the Liposuction procedure, making it safer and more effective than ever before. Therefore, as long as this combination procedure is performed by an experienced, skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon, it is safe to combine Liposuction with the Tummy Tuck procedure.

What Benefits Does a Detroit 360 Tummy Tuck Offer?

Through the removal of excess skin and the creation of an internal corset, the Tummy Tuck portion of the Circumferential Tummy Tuck flattens the patient’s abdominal area.

The Liposuction procedure permanently removes fat cells, thus, changing the overall shape of the patient’s body. This procedure significantly improves the appearance of the patient’s body.

Individuals who find it difficult to lose weight despite their lifestyle changes may want to consider a 360 Body Lift Near Detroit.

Benefits of a Circumferential Tummy Tuck include:

  • A reduction in the visibility of love handles.
  • A flatter, tighter abdomen.
  • The elimination of undesirable deposits of fat that have accumulated in the abdomen and the back as well as the love handles.
  • Abdominal muscles and contours that are more visible.
  • Provides patients with a leaner, more fit-looking silhouette.
  • A sleeker, shapely low back.
  • Is designed to complement the patient’s natural contours and body shape.

After a Detroit Circumferential Tummy Tuck, Many Patients Experience Improved Self-Esteem

This combination procedure beautifully transforms the patient’s body, which leads to an improvement in the way an individual sees himself or herself, ultimately resulting in an increased self-esteem. This increase in self-esteem typically affects other areas of the patient’s life. For example, improved confidence may encourage the patient to pursue the promotion he or she wants, or to follow a dream that has previously been left behind.

Who Should Consider Having a 360 Tummy Tuck Near Detroit?

Since losing a substantial amount of weight frequently leaves behind stretched out, sagging skin that no longer has the ability to retract, a Circumferential Tummy Tuck is ideal for men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight.

Sagging skin can lead to embarrassing situations, make an individual feel uncomfortable, result in the development of rashes that itch (due to the continuous skin on skin contact) and distort the individual’s overall figure.

A good candidate for a Detroit 360 Tummy Tuck is an individual who is in good health but is unhappy with the way his or her abdomen looks due to an accumulation of loose skin, excess fat and lax or separated abdominal muscles.

Since this procedure removes excess fat, it is ideal for individuals who have residual fat that they cannot eliminate through diet and exercise.

In addition, the individual must have a realistic expectation related to what can be accomplished with a Circumferential Tummy Tuck.

Females must have no desire to become pregnant at any point in the future.

Patients need to be close to their ideal body weight before having this procedure.

Individuals who can benefit from a 360 Tummy Tuck include those who:

  • Want a dramatic body transformation.
  • Have bra rolls.
  • Want to look amazing from every angle.
  • Have belly flab.
  • Are frustrated with the changes that have occurred during pregnancy.
  • Are happy to have lost a significant amount of weight, but would like to address the issues related to the excess skin and residual fat that remains.
  • Feel self-conscious and choose not to participate in activities due to their excess skin and fat.

A 360 Body Lift near Detroit targets:

  • Every area of the abdomen, back and hips.
  • Creates a shapelier, more tone looking body.
  • Reshapes or removes stubborn fat in the abdomen.

How Long Should a Woman Wait to Have a Circumferential Tummy Tuck Following Pregnancy?

It is best for a woman to wait at least six, but preferably 12 months before having this procedure. This waiting period allows her body to complete the changes that occur following pregnancy.

Would a Woman Who Previously Had a Cesarean Section or Hysterectomy Be Considered a Candidate for a 360 Tummy Tuck?

Yes, neither a Cesarean Section nor a Hysterectomy limits a woman’s ability to have this revolutionary procedure. In fact, the Tummy Tuck portion of this procedure will eliminate the patient’s old abdominal scar (through the removal of the excess skin) and places the 360 Tummy Tuck scar lower so it is well-hidden beneath the patient’s bathing suit or undergarment.

An Initial Consultation Near Detroit

During this consultation, the surgeon will review the patient’s medical history, including any medications, herbal supplements and vitamins being taken. After reviewing this information, the surgeon may ask the patient questions related to his or her medical history and medication.

To promote proper healing, patients who smoke cigarettes need to stop smoking four weeks before their Circumferential Tummy Tuck near Detroit, and four weeks after their procedure. Also, nicotine gum and patches must be avoided during this time. Patients who do not heed this warning may experience a slow heal time and an infection may result. Nicotine causes the blood vessels to shrink, which makes it difficult for the blood to reach the wound, thus, negatively affecting the healing process.

It is very important for 360 Tummy Tuck patients to be open with their surgeon because every question asked is essential to ensuring the patient receives the best care possible. Also, patients are encouraged to ask their own questions. Patients should keep in mind that as seasoned plastic surgeons, any questions a patient wants to ask have probably already been asked by other patients; therefore, he or she need not feel shy when asking about any issue. To make sure they remember to ask all their questions, many of Chau Plastic Surgery’s patients write their questions down and bring them with to their consultation.

A Physical Examination May be Performed and Photos May Be Taken

Patients may be examined during this consultation. The areas the surgeon will want to examine are those the patient would like addressed during the 360 Body Lift. In addition, photos may be taken of these areas. These photos are taken at various angles and are used by the plastic surgeon while creating the patient’s custom-tailored surgical plan.

These Photographs Are Private and Part of the Patient’s Medical Record

These photographs are considered medical records, which means they are protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and will not be used for promotional purposes, etc. Any of the photos of clients that are visible for promotional purposes have been used with the written consent of each patient to whom the pictures belong.

Surgical Scars

Needless to say, patients should expect to have scarring following a 360 Tummy Tuck. The plastic surgeons at Chau Plastic Surgery have been performing plastic surgery procedures for nearly 30 years, collectively. This experience has provided the surgeons with the skills necessary to create incisions that remain hidden beneath the patient’s clothing. The surgeon will discuss the locations where the incisions are made during this procedure.

Preparing for a Detroit 360 Tummy Tuck

Patients need to ask for time off from work. Patients must take the day of their procedure and at least two weeks after their surgery off work.

During the weeks leading up to surgery, patients need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. His or her weight must remain consistent because any large fluctuations could lead to a delay in the surgery.

A 360 Body Lift is invasive and will require the patient to rest as he or she recovers. Therefore, patients need to fill their post-surgical medications before the day of their procedure. Also, if patients take any other prescription medication, herbal supplements, vitamins or over-the-counter medication, these should be picked up as well.

Patients may not be able to cook for themselves following their procedure. For this reason, patients are encouraged to take some time before their surgery to prepare themselves nutritious meals that can be frozen and then reheated for consumption. The easier, the better.

A recovery area needs to be created in the home. The area chosen should be somewhere the patient feels at peace. Many patients choose their living room, which may be ideal if there is a recliner available. A table needs to be close to the area where the patient intends to spend most of his or her recovery time. Frequently used items are placed on this table.

Make sure everything that will be needed can be reached without strain.

These items should include:

  • Medications.
  • Water bottles.
  • Extra pillows.
  • House phone.
  • Mobile phone charger that is already plugged in and secured so it remains in place (e.g., wrap the cord around the table lamp once).
  • Facial tissues.
  • Paper towels.
  • Trash can.
  • Hand wipes/Baby wipes.
  • Hand sanitizer.
  • Healthy snacks (fresh vegetables and fruit, etc.).
  • Remote controls.

Patients with small children or animals that are able to move about the home freely need to ask someone that they fully trust to care for them (preferably at a different location) during the first week of recovery. Furthermore, patients need to ask someone they trust to remain with them for a few days following their procedure. This is essential because it takes a while for 360 Body Lift patients to adjust to movement.

Patients are not permitted to drive for some time after they have their Circumferential Tummy Tuck, therefore, he or she needs to find a friend who will drive to and from Chau Plastic Surgery for the patient’s follow-up visits.

The night before surgery patients must stop eating and drinking at midnight. Patients who take medications during this timeframe should ask their surgeon whether or not to take them.

A 360 Tummy Tuck: The Procedure

Patients need to arrive at the hospital 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment. Since the patient is unable to drive home, he or she must have a licensed driver with accompanying the patient upon arrival. Patients who do not have a driver will need to reschedule their surgery.

Safety Always Comes First

The surgeons from Chau Plastic Surgery are always putting patient safety first, which is why they created this policy: Patients are not permitted to use public or for-hire transportation after any procedure that requires general anesthesia or IV sedation. This policy is in place for the protection of the patient.

This is an outpatient procedure that is performed at a nearby hospital. The procedure can take from four to six hours. The patient receives general anesthesia, with general anesthesia, the patient is fully asleep throughout his or her procedure.

Circumferential Tummy Tuck: Pre-Op

The surgeon may visit the patient while he or she is in pre-op. During this visit, patients should feel free to ask any last-minute questions they have.

In addition, the surgeon may make some markings on different areas of the body. The surgeon refers to these markings during the surgery. Since every patient is unique, these markings essentially serve as a guide during the procedure.

Once the general anesthesia takes effect, the surgeon can begin the 360 Body Lift. The surgeon creates incisions in strategic locations around the patient’s lower body. The Tummy Tuck incision is created at the hip level. This incision wraps around to the back.

Through these strategically placed incisions, the surgeon can access residual fat deposits and then remove them via Liposuction.

The overstretched skin is pulled downward and the excess is removed.

Before closing the incisions, the surgeon continues using Liposuction to contour the patient’s body.

Once the surgeon finishes sculpting the patient’s body and is happy with the result, a drain may be placed and the incisions are closed. Drains are used to provide excess fluid with an outlet, which helps reduce the amount of swelling a patient experiences, thus, reducing the patient’s pain level.

A compression garment is used to support the areas that received treatment as well as to help the patient’s body retain its new shape.

The patient is moved to the recovery room. While in the recovery area, the patient is monitored until he or she is fully awake.

Recovering from a 360 Tummy Tuck Near Detroit: What Patients Can Expect

Patients usually receive a long-acting anesthetic during surgery, which helps them feel comfortable enough to walk to the car with their driver once they are released to go home.

Patients will experience some inflammation and discomfort. However, the pain medication the surgeon prescribes should help reduce the patient’s discomfort level. In addition, the compression garment keeps inflammation down, which also reduces the amount of pain the patient experiences.

The drain usually remains in place for about seven days post-op.

Recovery typically takes about two or three weeks; however, strenuous activity (including exercise) needs to be avoided until the surgeon releases the patient participate in these activities.

It is at the two-week mark that most patients return to work.

Full Recovery

The full recovery time following a 360 Body Lift is anywhere from six to eight weeks.

How Long Will It Take to See Results?

Results are noticeable directly after surgery but they become more evident as the inflammation subsides. The hips and abdominal area are both tighter, slimmer and more defined than they were before the procedure. After a few months have passed, the final results become visible.

After Surgery, Maintaining the Results

The results achieved during a Circumferential Tummy Tuck, are long-lasting. As long as the patient remains healthy through diet and exercise, the results of this transformative procedure will be evident for years.

What is the Expected Cost for a 360 Tummy Tuck Near Detroit and Does Insurance Cover This Procedure?

Each patient is unique and so is each Circumferential Tummy Tuck plan the surgeon creates. For this reason, the only way that a plastic surgeon can determine the cost of an individual’s procedure is through an evaluation during his or her initial consultation.

When it comes to insurance, a 360 Tummy Tuck may be covered for a patient who has undergone bariatric surgery, which has resulted in the patient losing a massive amount of weight but is now left with excess skin that sags. To find out if their procedure will be covered, patients are encouraged to contact their health insurance company.

Possible Complications Following a Detroit 360 Tummy Tuck

Every procedure has potential complications. And although complications are rare, they still must be considered before committing to have a Circumferential Tummy Tuck near Detroit.

Potential complications:

  • Fluid accumulation.
  • Excess bleeding.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • Hematoma or seroma development.
  • Poor healing.
  • Heavy scarring.

During the creation of the patient’s surgical plan, many details are considered. One of the most important details is the unique anatomical features of each patient. These features need to be recognized and accounted for while creating a patient’s custom-tailored plan. An inexperienced plastic surgeon may not realize the importance of taking the patient’s anatomical features into consideration the way a seasoned plastic surgeon will.
